Report: Suicide bombers hit foreign base in Afghan west

KABUL - At least two suicide bombers were involved in an attack near an Italian-run base in the main city in western Afghanistan on Monday, an Interior Ministry spokesman said.
Interior Ministry spokesman Zemari Bashary said the suicide bombers launched their attack near the joint civilian/military Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) base in Herat but had no details on any casualties.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said four suicide bombers had attacked the base, although the Taliban often exaggerate claims about attacks and casualties inflicted on foreign and Afghan forces.
