Report: Syrian military shells northern city Deir al Zour

A convoy of military tanks attacked Deir al Zour in northern Syria on Sunday morning, shelling a number of targets in the city, according to CNN.
The attack came a day after UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's telephone call to Syrian President Bashar Assad, warning him to stop using military attacks against his people.
Ban had said that he was alarmed by the escalating violence in Syria and demanded that Assad stop deploying the military against civilians.
