Residents: Syrian forces storm town in province near Turkey

AMMAN - Syrian armored vehicles stormed a strategic town on the main northern highway on Thursday, a resident and local activists said, in the third day of a military assault on a northwestern province bordering Turkey to crush pro-democracy unrest.
"Around 14 tanks and armored vehicles entered Saraqeb this morning, accompanied by 50 buses, pick-ups and security cars. They started firing randomly and storming houses," said the resident who fled Saraqeb, situated on a main highway juncture, 50 km (30 miles) southeast of Turkey's Iskenderun (Hatay) province.
