Resistant bacteria discovered at Rambam neonatal ICU

The presence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the neonatal intensive care unit at Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center induced management as a precautionary measure not to admit new patients until further notice and send mothers of newborns to other hospitals in the area.

When Rambam officials learned of the bacteria, they isolated the infants in the unit. The premature babies were fund to carry the pathogen, but they are in good medical condition, the medical center said.
