Rivlin calls delay in Barzilai reinforcements an 'outrage'

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin on Sunday joined the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on a tour of southern cities hit by rocket fire from Gaza in recent days, saying that "peace with Egypt is a mutual interest for both states."

He added: "Israel cannot have policies for two states at the same time – one the southern state that absorbs rockets, and another, the quiet northern state."

Rivlin and Committee Chairman Shaul Mofaz also said the government must continue building the fortified underground emergency room in Ashkelon's Barzilai Medical Center.

Rivlin called the delay in construction an "outrage."
