Rivlin comes out against deportation of foreign children

Knesset chairman Reuven Rivlin on Monday came out against the government's decision to deport 400 children of foreign workers.  While at a meeting with Holocaust survivors, Rivlin referred to the decision as "inhumane and immoral."
Last month the government decided to allow some 800 foreign workers' children to remain in Israel, while expelling 400 others based on whether or not they fulfilled a list of criteria. The deportation of the children who don't fulfill the critera was scheduled to take place in less than a month's time. Rivlin said that "as a Jewish state" Israel should allow all 1200 children to remain in the country.
