Russia says opposes sanctions against Syria

MOSCOW - Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday Russia remained opposed to sanctions against Syria, signaling no shift in its stance over the government's use of force against protesters seeking an end to President Bashar Assad's rule.
Lavrov also reiterated Moscow's opposition to outside military intervention in Syria.
