Russia urges Syrian opposition to talk to government

MOSCOW - Russia called on opponents of Syrian President Bashar Assad on Tuesday to hold talks with the government to try to end violence in the Middle East nation.
At a meeting in Moscow with an opposition delegation led by Syrian National Council head Burhan Ghalioun, Russian diplomats urged "all Syrian opposition groups that reject violence as a means to achieve political ends to immediately join in the realization of the Arab League initiative to resolve the crisis in Syria through the launch of dialogue between the Syrian authorities and the opposition," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
