Saad al-Katatny elected chairman of Egypt's FJP

Saad al-Katatny won Friday's election for the chairmanship of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood's political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), Egypt Independent reported.
Katatny beat out FJP’s acting leader Essam al-Erian.
In his victory speech, Katatny reportedly hailed his election as a victory for the democratic process, and said that his party would seek to govern through the application of Islamic Sharia law. The role of the FJP was to "implement righteous rule based on Islamic sharia laws," he asserted.
Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi earlier this year ran for office on the FJP ticket; he resigned from the party immediately after being elected.
