Sa'ar slams Barak for trying to delay decision on Ariel

Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar on Sunday night criticized Defense Minister Ehud Barak for recommending that the decision on Ariel University Center be postponed, calling it a "transparent" move.
Barak penned a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recommending he postpone a decision on the status of Ariel University Center until the Supreme Court rules on a petition against the institution. Barak also stated that Netanyahu should bring the issue to the cabinet following the Supreme Court ruling.
Since Ariel is in the West Bank, which is under the IDF’s authority, OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Nitzan Alon must sign the declaration, and may only do so after receiving instructions from Barak.
Sa'ar said Barak's aim is to try to delay the recognition of Ariel as a university. "The government. and not the defense minister, should be directing the OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. on the matter," opined Sa'ar.
