Sarkozy seeks new int'l nuclear regs by end of year

TOKYO - French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Thursday that the world should aim to set out new nuclear industry standards by the end of the year in the wake of the atomic disaster in Japan.
G20 chairman France wants to host a meeting in May, Sarkozy said earlier, that brings together nuclear watchdogs from the grouping of 20 economic powers in order to prepare ideas ahead of an International Atomic Energy Agency conference in June.
