Schalits meet Barak, Hagai Hadas for briefing on swap talks

Noam and Aviva Schalit, parents of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, met with Defense Minister Ehud Barak at the Kirya Military Headquarters in Tel Aviv on Monday in an effort to ascertain the status of negotiations - or the lack thereof - for the release of their son.
Following their meeting with Barak, the two were scheduled to meet with Hagai Hadas, the special negotiator on the Schalit matter.
While the meeting was routine and scheduled in advance, the Campaign to Free Gilad Schalit stated that the Schalits would use the opportunity to press for greater progress.
At the end of December, a frenzy of negotiation activity gave the impression that a prisoner swap was imminent. However, the back and forth messages between Hamas and Israel - facilitated by a German mediator - produced no tangible results.
