Senior official at public security ministry resigns

Public Security Ministry Chief of Staff Hagi Peled announced his surprised resignation from his position on Wednesday, Channel 2 announced.

Peled was under internal investigation at the ministry for allegations that he had sexually harassed a female consultant who works with the ministry.

The timing of the resignation came as a surprise to most following the progress of the inquiry.However, sources with the ministry told Channel 2 that the decision was reached during a ministerial committee meeting during the day when it was revealed that Peled had taken steps that could be perceived as an attempt to obstruct the probe into his conduct.
