Senior Fatah official Nabil Shaath on Saturday said that the US is pressuring states in the UN Security Council not to vote for recognition of a Palestinian state in order to avoid using its veto to defeat the resolution, the Ma'an news agency reported.
Speaking during a press conference in Ramallah, Shaath said that the requisite nine members of the UN Security Council needed to pass the resolution do support recognizing Palestine as a full member state in the world body, but as of yet have failed to agree to vote yes on recognizing Palestine because of US pressure.
