Steinitz: Gaza operation's goal to restore deterrence met

Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz told Israel Radio on Thursday that the Gaza operation's goal to restore deterrence was met.
Steinitz clarified that the operation was successful because its goal was not to oust Hamas.
"Hamas suffered a severe and unusual blow, and there's a good chance this will have a long-term deterring effect," Steinitz told Israel Radio.
The finance minister was pleasantly surprised of Egyptian involvement in reaching the cease-fire, and cited it as an unplanned international achievement for the operation.
