Summer vacation in schools to be shortened by a week

Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar has decided to cut the school system's summer vacation by a week. The new school year will begin on August 26 instead of on September 1.
Instead of the additional week of summer break, students will get additional days off throughout the year, such as extra days around Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and the Pesah and Hannukah vacations.
