Susan Rice: 'No escape' for Gaddafi regime, must step down

There is “no escape” for Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime,” and now is the time for him to step aside, US Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said on Monday. She called Gaddafi’s comments about widespread Libyan support “delusional.”

Rice said she hopes sanctions on the Libyan regime will make it face up to the choice of “violating human rights and being held accountable, or stopping the violence and respecting the people's demands.”

She added that talks with NATO about the option of a no-fly zone are being considered actively and seriously.
