Suspect in Gilo murder indicted, remand extended

The man suspected of murdering Gilo resident Sarit Banit-Zikary, 40, was indicted in the Jerusalem Magistrates court on Wednesday, a day after police found Banit-Zikary's body on the balcony of her apartment days after she was murdered. His detention was extended until January 19.

Banit-Zikary's four children had been in the house for at least four days with their mother's body outside. One of her daughters had received a text message that she was vacationing in a cabin up north for a few days, so she did not notify police. This was the third instance of domestic violence that ended in the murder of a woman in 2011.
