Suspect mental hospital in Petah Tikva finally shut down

The Health Ministry has finally closed the Neve Ya’acov private psychiatric hospital in Petah Tikva after an investigation of complaints from patients’ relatives and various investigations led to police arrests of staffers.

They were suspected of physical, emotional and sexual abuse of helpless patients. The ministry, which did not thoroughly investigate the complaints for a year, moved patients to public and communal institutions and said Monday it was determined to close other low-budget private mental hospitals.

The owners were allowed by a court to return to Neve Ya’acov so it could be closed rapidly.
