Swedish police arrest Iraq extradition protesters

STOCKHOLM  — Police have arrested dozens of demonstrators outside a migration board facility in southwestern Sweden after they tried to stop the transfer of a group of Iraqis that are due to be deported.
Police spokesman Thomas Fuxborg said some 70 of the around 100 protesters were arrested just after midnight Tuesday after they placed themselves and their vehicles in front of three transports carrying Iraqis.
According to authorities there were four Iraqis on board the transports.
Swedish Migration Board spokesman Leif Andersson confirmed that a plane is due to take off from Sweden to Iraq on Wednesday.
On Monday, Amnesty International said Sweden is planning to extradite at least 14 Iraqis by force Wednesday.
