TA rape suspect in police custody may be serial offender

Tel Aviv police may have a serial rapist in their custody after a man arrested for an attempted rape in Jaffa earlier this month confessed Monday to a violent rape that took place a day earlier in a women's bathroom at the Tel Aviv Central Bus Station.

The suspect, a 19-year-old Bat Yam resident Inan Vadaj, was taken for a remand hearing at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Monday, where his remand was extended until Wednesday. Police had asked the court to extend his remand by five days, but the court gave police only until Wednesday.

Vadaj was arrested nine days ago after police received a complaint from a woman who said she was the victim of an attempted rape in Jaffa on August 14th.
