Tal Law committee to meet for first time

The Committee for advancing equality and sharing burdens will meet for the first time Monday, Army Radio reported.

The committee's purpose is to find an alternative to the Tal Law.

The committee is chaired by Kadima MK Yohanan Plesner, who along with the rest of Kadima, recently joined the coalition, purportedly with the primary goal of formulating a solution to integrating haredim into the military and national service, in accordance with a ruling of the High Court.

Last week, the religious parties in the coalition announced that they will boycott the hearings and will not cooperate with the committee.
