Tax official's remand extended by week

The Rishon Lezion's Magistrate's Court extended the remand of David Vanunu,head of the Tax Authority's National Investigations and Field Intelligence Branch, by a week on Monday.
Vanunu is suspected of accepting bribes from several individuals in exchange for ending tax investigations against them over unpaid fees.
"He sold tax for financial greed," Judge Rafi Arniya said during the hearing.
Vanunu is suspected of receiving bribes over a period of years inexchange for "making problems go away" for individuals who becameentangled with tax problems.
