Top UK spy to testify at subway bombings inquest

LONDON — A top British spy will give evidence in full view, but anonymously, at an inquest into the July 2005 London transit bombings.
Presiding judge Heather Hallett has agreed to a government request that the senior MI5 agent be identified only as Witness G.
But she says the spy should not be screened from sight of victims' relatives, saying they "have been waiting over five years" to see an intelligence agent testify. She said Friday that the question they most wanted answered was whether the attacks could have been prevented.
