Tourism minister signs agreement with Portuguese counterpart

Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov has signed a tourism agreement with his Portuguese counterpart Bernardo Trindade.
Upon signing the agreement Monday, the ministers declared that they recognize the power of the tourism industry to improve the quality of life of the residents of both countries and the importance of the tourism industry in promoting world peace and understanding.
Within the framework of the agreement, the ministers committed to encouraging bi-lateral tourism, through which the citizens of the two countries will learn about the lives, history and culture of the other. 
The tourism agreement is designed to bring an increase in tourism traffic between the two countries while expanding joint activities in the areas of health tourism, information exchange, cooperation in tourism initiatives and tourism promotion.
About 7,000 tourists visited Israel from Portugal in 2009.
