Train service south of Tel Aviv suspended through Friday

Train service to stops south of Tel Aviv Savidor Central Station will be suspended through Friday, after Israel Railways announced last week that infrastructure work would halt its service on all southern lines other than those serving Ben-Gurion airport and Modiin. The infrastructure work is part of Israel Railways’ “Beer Sheva in 50 minutes” project, which promises to cut travel time from Tel Aviv to the Negev city by 25 minutes.
During the renovation work, rail service between Tel Aviv stations will be reduced to just two an hour. Israel Railways will run a shuttle service between Tel Aviv’s Hagana, Hashalom and Savidor stations in both directions free of charge. The rail company has also partnered with bus operators to augment bus service from Tel Aviv, Beersheba, Ashdod and Ashkelon central stations.
