Turkey: Haniyeh meets Islamic group behind Gaza flotilla

Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh met on Monday with the IHH Humanitarian Relief organization, the group behind the 2010 Mavi Marmara flotilla, during a trip to Turkey. Nine activists were killed during an IDF raid on the Gaza-bound ship.

In a press conference aboard the ship, Haniyeh thanked Turkey for supporting Gaza, saying that the Marmara brought honor to Turkey and captured the hearts of Gaza residents.

On his first trip out of Gaza since 2007, Haniyeh met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan on Sunday, and reportedly thanked him for supporting Gaza residents during Israel’s Operation Cast Lead two years ago.
