Turkish opposition could end parliament boycott

ISTANBUL - Turkey's main opposition party gave a broad hint on Friday that its MPs could end a protest over parliamentary bans on elected candidates and take the oath.
Nearly a third of the MPs in the 550-seat assembly had refused to be sworn in when parliament opened on June 28.
Republican People's Party (CHP) representatives met parliament's newly elected speaker Cemil Cicek, from the ruling AK Party, on Friday to seek a way out.
The CHP had two candidates elected who are being held in detention without having been convicted. Both are suspects in a spreading investigation into anti-government conspiracies.
The Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), a party that is regarded as close to the militant Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), has five candidates in detention.
