ANKARA, Turkey — Turkish prosecutors on Thursdays stated that they are taking legal action against one of the world's largest yachts after a police raid on it revealed an alleged prostitution scandal involving underage girls.
The Finance Ministry is trying to cancel the lease of the 408-foot (124 meter) MV Savarona
after the scandal stunned the nation.
newspaper, citing prosecutor Yusuf Hakki Dogan, said authorities followed the ship for seven months prior to this week's raid in which 13 girls, including two minors, from Russia and Ukraine were detained along with several men from Central Asia.
The Culture Ministry said Thursday it will turn the Savarona
— which was once used by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey — into a museum.
