Two Iranian diplomats defect in Europe

Two Iranian diplomats defected from their posts in Brussels and Helsinki this month.
The two diplomats quit their embassy jobs in Brussels and Helsinki and are seeking political asylum in Norway and Finland, respectively.
Both diplomats said they left their positions because of the government crackdown on citizens protesting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's 2009 re-election.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said, "nobody in the foreign ministry believes" the two had political motives.
