UK police bring terror charges against British man

LONDON— A British man was charged Wednesday with soliciting murder over a website that allegedly urged attacks on lawmakers who voted in favor of the Iraq war.
Bilal Zaheer Ahmad, who also faces three counts of possessing information likely to be useful to terrorists, appeared handcuffed in the dock of a London court.
The charges follow the conviction this month of Roshonara Choudhry, a 21-year-old woman jailed for at least 15 years after stabbing legislator Stephen Timms in May. Prosecutors said Choudhry had consulted extremist websites, including a British-based site that included a "hit list" of legislators who had supported the war.
British and US authorities say those Internet pages have been closed down.
Ahmad, 23, was not asked to enter a plea during the brief hearing and his lawyer did not apply for bail.
The next hearing would be on November 29, prosecutor Moria MacMillan said.
