UK welcomes Arab League sanctions on Syria

British Foreign Secretary William Hague Sunday welcomed the Arab League's decision to impose wide reaching sanctions on Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, calling on the UN to support the league's move, according to AFP.
"We welcome the Arab League's leadership in seeking an end to the horrific violence in Syria," Hague said in a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
The Arab League voted 19 to 22 to impose sanctions on Syria, including a travel ban on government officials and a ban on certain commodities exports to the country.
