The Zionist Federation of the UK held a seminar on Israel and the environment for over 1,000 students in London last week.
“Israel Blue, White and Green” event, organised by the ZF, reached out to mainly non-Jewish high school students and around 50 university students in briefings at three London universities.
Four leading Israeli scientists talked about their cutting edge research which is leading to enhanced knowledge of climate change, which is being shared with scientists, agriculture experts and farmers around the world.
The speakers gave many examples of heartening regional collaboration between Israelis, Palestinians and Jordanians in areas such as water conservation, the elimination of crop-destroying insects and technology.
One of the schools that took part wrote to the ZF to say: “Just a very quick note to thank you for today - couldn't have asked for more.”
