UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday arrived in Tehran to attend the summit if the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), AFP reported. According to AFP, Ban is set to hold talks with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and other officials.Ban's visit to Tehran was strongly opposed by Israel. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, in a phone conversation with Ban two weeks ago, implored the UN chief to stay away from the conference, saying his presence would constitute a "horrible mistake" that would grant legitimacy to the regime at a time when it needed to be isolated. The US also opposed Ban's visit, with State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland also reportedly calling on Ban to stay away from the conference.
