UNHRC demands 'full, transparent' probe of Kyrgyz violence

GENEVA — The UN's top human rights body has urged Kyrgyzstan to conduct a "full and transparent investigation" into the unrest in the Central Asian nation and hold those responsible to account.
The Human Rights Council on Friday said it was "deeply concerned" at the loss of life that occurred on April 7 during demonstrations that led to the toppling of the Kyrgyz government.
In a unanimous resolution Friday, the 47-nation council also condemned the subsequent "provocations and violence in Osh and Jalal-Abad" in southern Kyrgyzstan during which scores of people died.
