US commander to call Afghan leader over civilian shootings

US General John Allen, who commands US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, will call Afghan President Hamid Karzai shortly to discuss the shooting of Afghan civilians by a US soldier, a US official said on Sunday.
The Afghan Defense Ministry said Western forces killed 15 civilians in a shooting spree in southern Kandahar province early on Sunday. US officials say there are no indications currently that more than one US soldier was involved.
Karzai said the acts were "intentional murders" and has demanded an explanation from NATO.
