US Jewish group to meet with Peres, Fayyad

The leaders of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, an umbrella group representing a dozen Jewish-American organizations, was scheduled to arrive in Israel on Sunday for an annual tour of the country. During their stay JCPA chair Conrad Giles and President-CEO Steve Gutow were set to meet with President Shimon Peres, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, opposition leader Tzipi Livni and Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
"Topics will include Iran's nuclear weapons program, the Palestinian issue and UDI, the assault on Israel's legitimacy, as well as domestic concerns such as Jewish-Arab relations, Israel's democracy and social justice," the group announced in a press release.
The JCPA's board members include representatives of the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League and Hadassah. Recently JCPA has been involved in the campaign to release Alan P. Gross, a Jewish American in jail in Cuba.
