US judge denies bail for accused Taliban backer

LOS ANGELES - An accused financier of the Pakistani Taliban was denied bond on Thursday at a Los Angeles court hearing, where a judge determined he was a flight risk.
Irfan Khan, 37, was arrested in California on May 14, the same day authorities in Florida detained his brother Izhar Khan, and the men's father, Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan, who is the imam, or spiritual leader, of the Miami Mosque.
The three men were indicted in Florida on charges they conspired to provide money and support for the Pakistani Taliban, which is considered a terrorist organization by the US government.
