US: NATO attack on Pakistani troops not deliberate

ABOARD A US MILITARY AIRCRAFT - The top US military officer on Wednesday rejected accusations by Pakistan's army that NATO's cross-border air attack that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers was a deliberate act of aggression.
"I can say, categorically, it was not a deliberate attack," General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Reuters in an interview as he flew back to Washington after a trip to London.
"What in the world would we gain by attacking a Pakistan border post?" he asked.
