US welcomes release of Ilan Grapel from Egypt

The United States on Thursday welcomed the release of Ilan Grapel, the dual US-Israeli citizen freed from jail in Egypt after being held for five months on spying charges.
"We thank the Governments of Egypt and Israel for their roles in reuniting him with his family," a statement by US State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said. "The Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty is a vital element of regional peace and stability, and we strongly support both countries’ sustained commitment to its provisions," the statement continued.
