Use of home kits for HIV nixed by Health Ministry

The Health Ministry urged the public on Sunday not to undergo HIV tests in "unorganized" places, as home tests sold abroad or via the Internet are "not 100 percent reliable and could cause unnecessary anxiety" or mislead carriers into thinking they were not infected by the virus.
Home kits for HIV were recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, leading to the possibility that people will prefer to be tested in the privacy of their own home and not in health funds, hospital AIDS centers or facilities run by voluntary organizations.
