West Nile mosquitoes found in Dead Sea area

Mosquitoes infected with the West Nile Virus were discovered in the northern part of the Dead Sea, the Environmental Protection Ministry announced on Thursday.

The Megillot Regional Council has been informed of the problem, and is taking action to eradicate the infected insects immediately, according to a statement from the ministry. Meanwhile, the ministry has asked that the public eliminate any standing water from their yards, and to place protective nets on their windows to ward off mosquitoes.
