The Knesset Labor Committee voted Tuesday to authorize the extension of the "Lights to Employment" (Wisconsin Program) welfare-to-work program until April 29, 2010.
The program provides the unemployed the opportunity to develop new professional skills in order to more quickly return to the work force.
The Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry had come out earlier in support of the reauthorization, adding that it hoped that the Knesset would eventually vote to extend the program to cover the entire country.
