The recent wave of workers layoffs is an uncontrollable tsunami, Labor leader Shelly Yechimovich said Tuesday, in response to an Israel Employment Service report that the number of job seekers hit a three-year high of 16,084.
"Just as it is the government's duty to prepare for security threats, it is also its duty to prepare for occupational threats, preparations that have not been made at all." said Yechimovich. "Instead, we got baseless bragging about the excellent state of our economy."
"A dignified livelihood is the most basic condition for human existence, and the loss of livelihood is a hardship that must be prevented," she added.
