Yemen to expand anti-terror efforts to fight al-Qaida

Yemen on Saturday announced it planned to establish a special anti-terrorism force to fight al-Qaida militants in four provinces in the country, reported Reuters.
The statement came a day after the US said President Barack Obama's senior counter-terrorism adviser has pressured Yemen to boost its efforts against the militants.
The anti-terrorism force will be established in the provinces of Shabwa, Abyan, Hadramout and Maarib and its forces will be trained to tackle al Qaida and help "eradicate the scourge of terrorism," Reuters reported quoting the Yemeni Interior Ministry's website.
