Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Monday accused Likud MKs of creating competition because of Yair Lapid and called to end incitement against haredim.
"There is an endless incitement against haredim," Yishai said at a news conference. "Everybody is attacking the haredim day in and day out. Is this what interests the public?" he questioned.
"Likud ministers are creating competition because of Yair Lapid. They are competing for who will receive more headlines against the haredim. All they care about is attacking the haredim. They are not looking at reality and not looking at what is truly happening. Likud returned to power because of Shas. Do not act against your public. They are acting against people who believe in God."
Yair Lapid, the son of late Shinui leader Yosef (Tommy) Lapid and anchor of Channel 2’s top rated news magazine Ulpan Shishi, has indicated that he may enter politics and gain seats in the Knesset.
"I am calling on [Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu] Bibi, [opposition leader Tzipi Livni] Tzipi, [Defense Minister Ehud Barak] Barak, [Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman] Lieberman - stop the incitement. We must stop the incitement. We must rise and assist those who want to be integrated into the work force," Yishai said.
