Maj.-Gen. (res.) Ya'acov Amidror will deliver the Jabotinsky Institute's annual Jabotinsky lecture at the institute's Tel Aviv headquarters.

THE PRESIDENT'S annual conference based on the Democracy Index will take place at 10 a.m. at Beit Hanassi. Participants in the by-invitation-only event will include President Shimon Peres, Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and others. The conference, which is being organized by the Israel Democracy Institute, will explore issues such as the nation's interest, or lack of interest, in politics, based on a survey indicating that only 60 percent of the public is interested in politics, and the place of civil society in the State of Israel. Among the speakers will be Hebrew University of Jerusalem Prof. Shlomo Avineri, New Israel Fund executive director Eliezer Yaari, Tel Aviv-Jaffa Academic College Prof. Naomi Hazan and Prof. Asher Orian of the Gutman Center and the IDI.
DUE TO the upcoming visit by US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama, the BESA lecture, which was to have been given by former US ambassador to Israel Dan Kurtzer, has been canceled, as Kurtzer is involved in arrangements for the visit.

MAJ.-GEN. (res.) Ya'acov Amidror will deliver the Jabotinsky Institute's annual Jabotinsky lecture at the institute's Tel Aviv headquarters at 38 King George Street at 7 p.m. The lecture will be based on Jabotinsky's principles and their relevance today. It will take place on the eve of the 68th anniversary of Jabotinsky's death, which will be commemorated at Mount Herzl on Thursday at 6 p.m.
