Dan David Prize laureate Dr. James Hansen will deliver a lecture on "How Sensitive is the Earth's climate?"

Sunday, May 13 DAN DAVID Prize laureate Dr. James Hansen will deliver a lecture on "How Sensitive is the Earth's climate?" The lecture, organized by Tel Aviv University's Faculty of Exact Sciences, will be held at 11 a.m. in the Shenkar Building on the TAU campus. Monday, May 14 DIFFERENT FACETS of the life of the late Prof. Yuval Neeman, an Israel Prize laureate who was one of Israel's leading physicists, and who inter alia founded the Israel Space Agency, will be presented under the auspices of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, to mark the first anniversary of his passing. The memorial event will be held at the Van Leer Institute, 43 Jabotinsky Street, Jerusalem, with the participation of Prof. Zvi Javetz who will discuss Neeman, the universal intellectual; General (Res) Shlomo Gazit, who will talk about Neeman, the military man who commanded the Givati Brigade and later served as Deputy Commander of Operations in the Department of General Staff; Uri Wirtzberg, who will speak of Neeman's contribution to the nation in his capacity as minister for Energy and Infrastructure and Science and Technology; General (Res) Prof. Yitzhak Ben-Israel who will talk about Neeman's contribution to national security via the Israel Space Agency; Prof. Vitaly Milman and Prof. Dan Amir who will recall what Neeman did towards facilitating the immigration of Soviet Jewish scientists to Israel; and journalist Dan Margalit who will review Neeman's statesmanship. COFFEE in the Finjan is the name of a marketing conference directed towards the potential of the Arab sector. Sponsored by the Israel Management Center, the conference will take place at the Sheraton City Tower Hotel, Ramat Gan at 8:30 a.m. Speakers will include prominent representatives of the Arab business community as well as academics, senior executive members of companies producing consumer goods, managers of shopping malls, and bankers. Tuesday, May 15 FORMER US ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk and Israel's former ambassador to the US and outgoing president of Tel Aviv University Prof. Itamar Rabinovich will be among the speakers at the annual John Gandel Symposium on the Middle East that is traditionally held during the annual meetings of the Board of Governors of Tel Aviv University. Indyk will be the keynote speaker. The symposium will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Marcelle Gordon University Club. TO MARK the tenth anniversary of the Keren Moshe Leadership Program of the Community Action Unit at Ben-Gurion University, there will be a panel discussion at 9 a.m. in the Minkoff Senate hall of the BGU Marcus Family Campus. IN CELEBRATION of the 10th anniversary of the Center for Beduin Studies and Development at Ben-Gurion University and in honor of its chief benefactor Robert H. Arnow, the center will be rededicated under his name. Following the ceremony, Prof. Ismail Abu-Saad, founding director and current Research Unit Director at the Center will present a history of Beduin-Arab graduation from BGU from 1970-2006. The presentation will focus on how far Beduins have come in their education and how much still needs to be done. Wednesday, May 16 TURKISH AMBASSADOR Namik Tan will speak on Current Challenges in Tukish-Israeli Relations to the English Speaking friends of Tel Aviv University and The International Forum of the Department of Political Sciences. The lecture will be held in Hall 0003, Naftali Social Sciences Building on the TAU campus at 6:15 p.m. TEL AVIV University is hosting a conference under the title: "Gentlemen the Revoluion." Prof. Shlomo Avineri of the Hebrew University Jerusalem will deliver the keynote address on "The Sweet bombshell: The Six Day War as the paver of the path to the loss of left-wing hegemony in 1977." WOMEN'S SUMMIT 2007 is the title of Knesset Christian Allies Caucus Women's Council that will focus on Empowering Women Through Judeo-Christian Values. The two-day conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Jerusalem will unite Jewish and Christian women in the campaign against abuse of women, domestic violence trafficking of women and honor killings.
