Israeli entrepreneur and former SAP executive Shai Agassi was at yesterday's meeting of the Knesset Internal Affairs and Environment Committee, where he promoted his electric car project. Agassi said the local market was ripe for the introduction of electric cars, and that within a few years, some 2 million electric cars would be on the country's roads. By the year 2020, he said, the country could be completely fuel-free, eliminating tens of millions of shekels that Israelis annually pay for fuel and greatly slashing the NIS 7m. that the government currently spends on reducing pollution.
