Israel's exports of polished diamonds rose 1.8 percent in May to $905 million on a year-on-year comparison, while polished diamond imports fell 1.6% to $320m. during the same period. Rough diamond exports were up 20.6% compared with last year, totaling $321m.
Imports of rough stones saw a moderate increase of 0.3% in May to $447m. From the beginning of the year, polished diamond exports rose 5.4% compared with the same period in 2006, totaling $3.2 billion, while polished imports increased by 1.6%.
